200411 - Medical Officer's Log - Ensign Rowan Roundel
[BEGIN MEDICAL OFFICER'S LOG]
Medical officer's log, stardate 200411.
My shift on the bridge began with the Courageous en route to the Space Station in order to scan for the ion trail. The ion trail led to another sector of space, so we changed course to pursue. Upon arrival, we located an asteroid that read as having an atmosphere, power readings, and one life sign. The First officer ordered me to accompany him on an away mission to explore the source of the readings on the asteroid.
Upon arriving on the asteroid, we located a building with a field around it. Once the field was deactivated, we were able to enter the building. I found vials with Borg nanites, as well as a recently discharged disrupter that had traces of a female Romulan's DNA on it. The disruptor is of particular interest and will be examined to ascertain if it's energy signature matches that of the damage found on Space Station Omega, and the murdered crew members. An anti-matter crate of Romulan origin that had gone missing from Space Station Omega was located, along with a crate that had a disassembled genetic scanner bed in it, also from Space Station Omega. All were transported to the Courageous.
We located two bodies. One was that of an unknown alien species. I asked for it to be transported to the Morgue so that I could compare it to the trace DNA found in the carbon scoring on Space Station Omega. The other was that of Ensign Mala, a member of the crew of Space Station Omega. We now have four of the six crew accounted for. The Second Officer whose blood was located on Space Station Omega still remains unaccounted for.
Upon proceeding further into the facility, we located a human being kept in a cell. I later learned his name to be Tamek Vas, a small-time hacker with a long rap sheet. He was terrified and thought us to be Romulan in origin. I attempted to calm him and assured him of our benevolent intent. Once he was calm, he and I beamed directly to sickbay where I had him lie down for full bio scanning. His injuries and course of treatment are noted in my Medical Treatment Log. Of note, when the Captain walked in, he became notably agitated, referring to her as a Romulan Devil. He was convinced that we were all part of a ploy to extract information from him. He calmed down at once upon the Captain returning to the Bridge. As soon as I had ascertained his identity and confirmed that the medical treatment was effective, I advised the Captain of the situation.
He will make a full recovery, though I don't know how happy he will be with his housing arrangements. He indicates that he came to be on Space Station Omega as he was caught attempting to breach Space Station Omega's computer core. He also states that he has seen the inside of Federation prison... but has indicated his preference being held in Federation prison over imprisonment on the asteroid at the hands of the Romulans.
