During routine scans, Science has reported that once exposed to certain radiation, the plants began to give off a greenish mist. Trying to understand what it was the Science team soon learned, the hard way, what it really was. A table in the Botany lab and the wall behind it started to corrode and break apart. The Science team has also informed us that the greenish mist seems to be eating components in our station and spreading spores, simultaneously.

Large numbers of the crew have become ill with flu like symptoms, leaving only the XO and myself on the bridge. We erected a level 10 quarantine field around the ops deck and ran bio-scrub protocols to sterilize any airborne or contact substances. Medical has their hands full at the moment with no idea what is causing this. The patients are exhibiting flu like symptoms but with no apparent infection or virus to cause it.

Medical and Science have worked out the causes for the illness and the structural damage. The crew is improving and in the knick of time.

Location of RP: SS Peedy Thor
Meeting Brief Location: Operations Deck
Alert Status: None
Damage: Several bulkheads, parts of Science, and various other hull fractures have occurred. Engineering is currently working on fixing the hull breaches. Medical is starting to administer the cure to the crew for the illlnesses.

STARTING OBJECTIVES ( * = indicates leading assignments)

Operations: Make sure our systems stay up and running.

Engineering: Ascertain the damage to the station and begin damage control to effected areas.

Science: Devise a containment system for the plants for safer examination.

Medical: Medical is overrun with patient effected by what looks like severe flu like symptoms. They have found a cure and administering it throughout the ship.

Security: Maintain security on the Engineering teams and secure damaged areas. Routinely check in on our guest in the brig.

Marines: Prepare to do some weeding. As soon as Science figures out how to stop them, we may need your expertise.

Cadets: Assist where directed

Ships Assisting: None

Remember: Q does not serve on the ship. Be creative with your solutions to issues. Its not about 1 person, we are a crew and as a crew we need to overcome our obstacles, together.

1) Joining in late? Not sure what to do? Talk with others in your branch/division/department to be briefed. If they are unavailable, contact Rich Lombardia or Ravyn Stormchyld to get an update and request assignment.
2) Have a major twist you'd like to implement? IM the Mission Creator (who wrote the briefing)
3) SCS combat system is required.

Duty Report LtCmdr T'Prain

On reporting for duty 180428.13, I reviewed standing orders for the station and for science, along with additional reports that were copied to the department. In the data from engineering I saw a message detailing a troubling concern. A weakness in the structure of the station itself has been detected. This is located in several bulkheads. A diagram with sensor readouts was attached. Although I had wanted to spend more time in the botany lab, examining the plant specimens from the surface of Pinastri Prime, I felt this report required urgent action. My main focus was first any bulkhead that had contact with the outside. Weakening of this area could affect station atmosphere and temperature, and potentially be life-threatening if environmental provision was compromised. The report stated this weakness had been detected on specific decks: Security, Medical/Science, and the main Welcome Deck. The danger of this cannot be understated. While Science examines the possible reasons for this metallurgic development, I strongly recommend those areas which contain parts of any bulkhead that interconnects with space be placed off limits. Force fields should be placed around those spots until the cause of this can be determined and proper repairs made. Starfleet Personnel, Civilians and Guests should be warned not to enter these areas without permission.

In Service,

Confused about the mission? In this section, you'll find background supplemental information about our mission, the area of space we're in, supporting ships, and so on that you can use to help build atmosphere and add detail when participating or to your logging, if you like!
We have had some extreme conditions lately on the station, see above for full details.

Going on 3 days with no sleep and the constant worry about the crew can take a toll. As Cmdr Lombardia and I remain locked behind this forcefield on the Ops deck, we image a gloomy future. The illnesses of the crew came on quite quickly and caught us by surprise. The Medical and Science teams have been working feverously to get to the root of the cause. They finally came up with a viable treatment. Seems the plants the Science team brought on board the station, where genetically altered. Someone created the perfect weapon. A plant that could terraform its surroundings and genetically rewrite the DNA of the population. This plant, in essence, was the ultimate bioweapon, allowing the creators to take over a planet, or in our case a station, without even firing a single shot.

We began with reversing the polarity on the hull plating which created a stop-gap measure for the spread of the station eating spores. Seems it was breaking down our hull and using it for food. Simultaneously releasing spores that got into our ventilation system and spread through the ship. The Science and Medical came to the conclusion that the spores were susceptible to Harmonic Frequencies. The sickbay began Harmonic Resonance Therapy on the infected and showed a marked improvement immediately.

Soon the crew was back on their feet, for the most part. It will still take several days for them to completely recover. Cmdr Lombardia has been ordered to take command of the USS Sheppard, but due to our quarantine lockdown, he has not been able to leave as of yet. We had a small reception for him on the commissioning deck, overlooking his new ship in drydock. We will miss Rich and wish him all the best on his new journeys.

Science Report - Lt Cmdr T'Prain

"The biological specimen we harvested from Pinastri Prime for study some time ago proved to be deadly. After finding a way to stop the spread of the secretion that was consuming thecurestion, and cure the infection caused by a virus emitted by the plant, we placed the samples in a quarantine forcefield. Our assignment was then to devise safer containment to support further study of the plant and its DNA alterations.

It is illogical for us to keep the plant samples on the station, yet, we can not return them to the planet surface. The best solution to stop the infection would be to destroy them, of course. But even that had issues. There could be other plants similarly altered and mutating on Pinastri. Identifying them and containing them would then be a crucial step to ensure the safety of everyone.

I devised a containment field with a reverse polarity along with a sonic emission at a frequency of four hundred and forty four herz to ensure the plant samples are quarantined. This was been tested through computer simulations and double quarantine of samples.

A final remark: if the progress of this planet had not stopped I have no doubt we now would be in a critical situation with evacuations. We may have had to leave Pinastri entirely. In fact, I am of the opinion that if these plants were altered by some entity, the purpose would have been to either remove us from Pinastri or watch us perish. "
