Proposed Class Name: The Astrophysics of Black Holes and Other Quantum Singularities
College: Science
School: Astro Science (cross-disciplinary -- possibly also Physical Science)
Author(s): Commander Nora Gerhadsen
ALL Authors Must have taken and passed the UFSA Class Author's Guide Course.
College Dean consulted? [ ] Yes [x] No (no Dean seems to be appointed for Science)
School Director consulted? [ ] Yes [x] No
Class Type:
[x] Lecture with Exam (Metaverse and Online)
[ ] Lecture with Exam (Online only)
[ ] Interactive Lecture with Exam (Metaverse only)
[ ] Practical Exercise or Simulation (Metaverse only)
Class Synopsis/Outline:
This class will be an introduction to the physics of quantum singularities, with attention paid to three general classes of singularity: stellar remnants (black holes), high-energy phenomena, such as impacts by ultra-high-energy cosmic rays, and artificial singularities. We will begin with the concept of escape velocity and the definition of a singularity or black hole. This will lead to a description of the conditions that must be fulfilled for the generation of such an object. We proceed with some of the basic physical characteristics of singularities, such as: Scharzschild radius (as an approximation for the size of the event horizon) and different black hole geometries, or 'metrics,' (rotating versus non-rotation, for instance). We will continue with the cause and dynamics of Hawking radiation by which these objects evaporate and are used to generate power. We will conclude with superstring and quantum loop theoretical treatments for these objects, particularly in end-of-life scenarios.

Please can I have an update in the status of this proposal. Is it still a goer or being shelved?
Thanks
Thanks

I'd still like to do this one! So please regard this class as still in development.
Thanks!

I'd still like to do this one, yes! It's just a matter of sitting down and getting it written out.

I totally understand I will mark it on the sheet as in development just please keep me in the loop on the progress.Nora Gerhadsen wrote: ↑170727.2146I'd still like to do this one, yes! It's just a matter of sitting down and getting it written out.
