The purpose of this forum post is to log any major and minor (personal) RP which occurs in association with the RP on Alienum III. Main RP's will be held every 1-2 weeks. The Marine outpost will remain open for off hours RP for the duration of this event. If you have friends who want to check it out, they are also invited to come along as an NPC marine or fleet officer sent to the outpost on a resupply mission. The outpost is located on the Maxwell's sim. Landmark was shared the the marine group chat a few days ago. It can also be reached by the using the Maxwell's transporter to beam to the surface.

A few notes for the location
-Alienum III is a federation colony world on the border with a faction of hostile Romulans. A marine outpost was established on the planet to act as a deterrent from Romulan incursions.
- At present there are no hostiles on the planet. However marine should remain vigilant on their patrols and keep an eye out for any signs of an incursion. (In the future clues may be dropped around the surface set that will spur on further RP)

Primary RP's will include
- Training events and war-games
- Large scale patrols
- Away missions to local systems as needed by starfleet and marine command.

Marines are welcome to partake in the following personal/small scale RP's at and around the outpost. Props have been placed to help you along your way. I an place a few more if the need arises. I encourage you to log any fun stories you tell on this forum
- Small scale patrols
- There are some uncharged ruins near the outpost
- Hunting and Meal prep (we have a mess hall and a campfire set up, feel free to hunt down and forage your own food!)
-There is a small gun range set up at the outpost
-PT drills
-Maintaining gear and the armory
-Outpost maintenance. (The Joint Cheifs denied my request to have some ensigns clean up the place. Looks like we will be scrubbing the heads ourselves)

Summary - Combat footage from the engagements with Kzem gave insight into certain aspects of training that could be improved upon. Marines have been ordered to come to Alienum III in shifts in order to attend training courses and partake in wargames to improve the overall combat effectiveness of the corps.

A pre-fabricated killhouse has been set out just outside the outpost. An initial course was held to refresh the marines on the basics of moving as a team, communicating effectively and making use of cover. After several dry runs the participants were split into two and a life fire drill was run using training rifles.

Future courses will build on the core concepts taught. Subjects will include long range marksmanship, hand to hand encounters and dynamic breaching.

"Storm in the Breach"

Marines in attendance

1st Lt Elsa (Scottland78 Resident)
2nd Lt. Stampede Jones (Limrie Resident)
2nd Lt. Snow Jones (Snowflower Fairey)
LtCol 亗кιαяα Dɛʟɢօȶȶɨ™-Mαsudo亗 (Kiara1 Noel)
LtCol Kyle Asbrink

The marines split into two teams and participated in a new combat exercise. The smaller team's MO was to set up a bomb in a 3 story building and defend it from fortified positions until it detomated. The breaching teams MO was to clear the building and disarm the bomb. LtCol 亗кιαяα Dɛʟɢօȶȶɨ™-Mαsudo亗 acting as the team leader for the assault team of Marines.

The assault team met heavy resistance as they approached the building and pushed up its lower floors. Their advance was hindered by the use of shock traps and gas grenades as several points. Eventually they were able to push to the top floor and engage the remaining enemy forces from covered positions. After a prolonged firefight the final defender was neutralized and the team was able to advance on the bomb.

A surviving defender was arrested and transported for questioning. 2nd Lt. Stampede Jones and 2nd Lt. Snow Jones worked together to disable the explosive device by removing the propellant from its core housing and tossing it out the window before it could become unstable. With this the exercise ended.

Moments after ENDEX the marines intercepted a brief communication from Alienum III orbital command advising of an sudden incoming ion storm passing through the system. Shortly after this the colony reported sighting the same storm. Communications with both locations abruptly came to a halt with all outbound communication lines going static.

At this time the sky blackened as the ion storm swallowed the entirety of the planet electrically charging its upper atmosphere. The Marine teams were able to retreat to the outpost and secure themselves inside their bunkers before the storm blew in. However, despite the bunkers hardened equipment the majority of the electronic system in the outpost (and presumably the colony and orbital command) have been fried out. The overloading circuitry around the outpost caused several explosions leading to minor injuries.

All outbound communication from Alienum III has ceased. However with the next scheduled check in with the Federation/Starfleet not being for several weeks the situation may go unreported and unnoticed for some time....

((From a timeline perspective the next RP will pick up immediately after where we left off))

The Ion Storm bombarded Alienum III for several hours. The storm caused catastrophic damage to the marine outpost. The communications equipment and backups were completely destroyed. Most other electronic equipment including the replicators, power generation, water filtration and refrigeration were all either damaged or destroyed. As the storm subsided the marines left the relative safety of their bunkers to Asses the damage to the outpost.

Lt Stampede Jones was able to partially restore main power and water filtration. Lt Snow Jones was unable to salvage any communications equipment. It was also determined a large amount of cold store perishables were destroyed when the refrigeration unit overloaded and exploded.

The marines gathered to review and discuss their situation.
- There was a shortage of food, local flora and fauna would need to be collected to supplement the remaining rations.
-They were cut off from the outside world. It was unknown of the rest of the planet was effected in the same fashion.
-Their next scheduled check in with Starfleet HQ was 3 weeks out. Nobody would realize there was an issue and no relief would be sent until then unless communications could be restored.
-The storm had taken the planets defense grid offline, without the grid, cloaked Romulan ships could easily infiltrate into orbit and launch attacks with no ability to counterattack. The blackout also left the nearby Romulan faction to launch an all out invasion of the planet without Starfleet being aware of it

LtCol Asbrink ordered the marines into teams. The first team was sent out to gather food, the second firewood. The final team began to make preparations for the 6 day hike to the federation colony to see if they had communications there. The teams continued their work till sundown at which point they returned to the outpost for dinner. At this time Lt Stampede Jones took charge of the first patrol around the outpost.

As Lt Jones approached the ruins near the outpost he came upon a team of civilian archaeologists overseen by Starfleet officers. They were brought back to the outpost and provided food and lodging. Upon questioning the team it was discovered they traveled to the ruins by shuttlecraft. They had taken shelter in the shuttlecraft during the storm but were unable to take off due to the shuttles fuel system being destroyed. They also confirmed they experienced the same communications blackout the outpost had.

Claire Morena, one of the archaeologists provided some information about the ruins they were investigating. She stated the ruins were from a spacefaring race which had once colonized Alienum III. She speculated the Ion storm may be a recurring. This may have caused the former inhabitants downfall or exodus from the system.

Due the threat posed from the Romulans, restoring communications with Starfleet HQ was the top priority for the marines. LtCol Asbrink ordered the marine combat engineers to work with the Starfleet officers from the dig team to cannibalize the fuel system from the main power generator for the outpost. They would use the fuel system to try and fix the dig teams shuttle and use it to reach the Starbase in orbit to call for help. The team selected for this task made preparations for an early morning departure.

Getting an early start to the day the marines, Starfleet personnel and civilian members split up to finalize preparation for their journey to the dig team's damaged shuttle. The outposts main power generator was disassembled so its fuel system could be used to repair the shuttle. Another team constructed a sled to carry the generator components. The remaining parts of the group packed provisions and weapons for the long trek back to the ruins where the shuttle was located. After all preparations were complete the group departed the outpost in two teams; a forward marine scout team and the main element of marines, fleet personnel and civilians.

After several hours of navigating difficult terrain the group arrived at the ruins. The advance scout team spotted a small device concealed in a collapsed pagoda. Upon further investigation it was revealed to be a transmitter/listening device of Romulan origin. Unlike all other communication equipment it was still operational. The device was deactivated as it posed a security risk, however its deactivation could pose its own risks. The terminated signal could reveal to whomever was monitoring the device that it had been discovered. The group quickly finished the journey to the shuttle to begin repairs and set up defensive positions.

Upon arrival to the shuttle all equipment was loaded up in its cargo bay. Marine combat engineers assisted fleet personnel with jerry rigging the fuel system from the generator to work with the shuttle. The remaining marines present set up in defensive positions around the shuttle and kept an eye out for a possible Romulan attack. Thankfully, power was restored without any hostile Romulans being spotted. The shuttle's sub-light engines were restored, as was limited warp capability. The group boarded the shuttle and departed for orbit hoping to seek aid from the Starfleet operated space station.

Upon reaching orbit the shuttle approached the starbase. The station was on minimal power and list support and due to the communications blackout the team was unable to use conventional means to contact the starbase. The idea was proposed to get in close and use the shuttles flood light to signal the flight deck in Morse code. This was done successfully. Communications with the starbase revealed they had no communications and were unable to provide any assistance to the group. The entire solar system was still unable to communicate with the outside, Starfleet completely unaware of the situation.

After further review the team aboard the shuttle decided to head to the nearest world which had subspace communications. The starbase was able to provide the coordinates for Kazrika VII. The closest neutral trade world to the Alienum system. The shuttle turned about and departed toward their new destination at warp 4, the maximum stable speed the improvised fuel system would withstand. The team prepared themselves for a long trip hoping they would find relief upon their arrival.

Personal log, after action report 201126 thursday,a strange encounter today while aboard U.S.S Peddy Thor Station,a probe of undetermined origan was detected about 5 lightyears away from Peedy thor station when first encounted, eventually i determined it to be carrying a copy of the 20th century Earth Shuttle Voyager's cargo which contained The Voyager message which carried by a phonograph record, a 12-inch gold-plated copper disk containing sounds and images selected to portray the diversity of life and culture on Earth. Launched in 1977, both Voyager spacecraft began a historic journey and each carried a unique 'time capsule' along with them.
Captain Rowena Luna Vandread-Rose,Marine Capt Lucy-Anne Cyprian ,and i determined it to be a non threatening entity and that it posed no threat to us,upon trying to communicate with it it broadcasted the station with sound known as, the Brandenburg Concerto No 1 in F Major by BACH through all decks, which was known as classical Music in the 20th and 21st century, quite a pleasant tune when not broadcast loudly.
A encounter such as this should be documented and so i also record that before broadcasting this music it also broadcast welcome messages in different languages of 20th century earth,i reccommended to the captain that since it poses no threat to starfleet and that we know where it comes from and it's purpose it would no serve any logical purpose for us to capture it,i reccomended that it be left to continue its journey to be encountered by other species in other quadrants in the hope that it might be found by other intelligent alien life and that they might learn of earth and of the federations purpose of scientific exploration and discovery and peaceful encounters with others.
personal note, that this personal log will be shared with marine branch.

The marine team spent the next two days travelling at a maximum of warp 4, stopping several times to make minor repairs or let the shuttles jerry rigged engines cool down. Finally they arrived in orbit over Kazrika VII. Without a sensor sweep it was immediately obvious the planet had fallen victim to some cataclysmic event. The vast oceans of the aquatic planet were stained a sickly green color, the few landmasses on the world now smoldering craters, and the atmosphere itself was tinted with radiation.

Due to the desperate need to find parts to repair subpsace communications the decision was made to send an away team down to locate parts for repair and render assistance to any survivors. Though heavy ionic interference the shuttle was able to locate a safe area to land, a small floating trading outpost. The away team dosed up on anti-radiation medication and equipped breathing apparatuses before beaming down. An initial sweep of the outpost found bloated corpses of several Kavrikans as well as other deceased sentient species who were visiting from off-world. Investigation of the remains hinted at the use of a potent biological or chemical agent released into the oceans. After almost 30 minutes of sweeping it was determined there were no survivors at the outpost

The away team split into teams, one focusing on investigating who may have attacked the planet while the other team attempted to find parts to repair subspace comms systems. The scavenging team located an unexploded nuclear device. They proceeded to disarm the device and scavenge several components from it. Simultaneously the other team located a scorched pamphlet located in the main building of the outpost. Most of the pamphlet was illegible but the incomplete word "rrigan' and several uses of the work 'Paradise' were contained on the document. This lead the team to beleive the Kzem had caused a planetary wide extinction event. It was at this point the away team was unexpectant beamed back to the shuttle by the personnel which remained in orbit.

A Voth fleet had dropped into orbit and quickly surrounded the shuttle. The entire voth fleets guns came to bear and locked weapons on the shuttle. The sluggish shuttle attempted to take evasive action, but was unable to make any headway against overwhelming odds. Before the shuttle was able to find an opening and go to warp it was intercepted. The crew, shuttle and all were beamed into the shuttle bay of one of the Voth ships.

Sublog: Background info on the Kazrikans. Destruction of their homeworld to be logged once contact with starfleet can be re-established. Recommending second contact science mission to offer assistance with reclamation or resettling if requested by offword survivors.

Kazrika VII is a neutral, class M world. The native aquatic race achieved warp speed about 100 years ago. They are ruled by a theocracy that worships the oceans as a benevolent goddess. Their economic/social structure is socialist in nature. Ones work and charity towards betterment of the society as a whole is a key driving factor in showing Kazrikas grace

Population - 3.6 Billion, 97% Kazrika, 3% other

The Kazrika encountered the Voth 30 years ago, they have a non-aggression pact and trade agreement with them. However, they are open to trading with most other races. Their main export is a silk like fabric produced from local fauna which is known for its high tensile strength, resistance pressure.

Mani’ Or’La or “Oceans Light’ is the capital city of Kazrika, population 26 million. The majority of the city lies on the oceans surface, however in recent years the city has expanded to above the sea in order to promote trade and commerce with other races. Embassies, trade companies, recreation and residential blocks have all be constructed above sea level to serve this goal.

The stranded team of marines find their shuttle firmly held in place within the shuttle bay of a Voth bastion cruiser. Unable to break free they prepare to repel boarders and if possible steal a Voth shuttle and escape. During their preparations the Voth used some sort of scanning device to restore short wave communications aboard the shuttle. The commander of the both ship hailed the crew of the shuttle and advised them that they were to stand trial for the genocide of the Kazrikan people. The crew of the shuttle split into two groups. In the cargo deck a team of combat engineers and other Starfleet personnel were working on a way to disable the device holding their craft in place in case an opportunity to escape arose. A second team at the conn of the shuttle were attempted to de-legitimize the Voth's claims. While the Starfleet crew were unable to broker their release, they were able to provide enough evidence from their sensor logs to indicate they had not attacked Kazrika VII. In addition, the sensor data also revealed a warp trail for a Kzem vessel.

The after some deliberation and investigation the Voth Commander was able to determine the sensor data Starfleet presented was legitimate. The Voth commander agreed to follow the warp trail and investigate this alleged "Kzem" threat. The federation team and their shuttle would remain in captivity as the Voth pursued the Kzem. Using their transwarp drives a small part of the Voth fleet quickly arrived where the warp trail ended. Almost as soon as the Voth ships arrived they came under fire by the Kzem fleet in orbit.

Telemetry of the fight taken by the shuttle was limited due to the dampening fields within the Voth's hull. However, sensors were able to show that the voth initially were gaining ground due to their superior shielding and technology. The tides turned once the Kzem began getting closing in with swarms of fighters. The Kzem's superior numbers closed the gap and began crashing their ships into the Voth. It was one such suicide attack that allowed the federation shuttle to escape. A Kzem fighter crashed though the side of the bastion cruiser and detonated inside . The federation shuttle, in close proximity to the blast sustained heavy damage, its shields, warp drive and several other systems were rendered inoperable. On a positive note, the detonation not only caused the field holding the shuttle in place to shut down, but also created a physical hole the ship could escape through.

The pilot of the shuttle shuttle used a quick burst of impulse to escape through the breach in the side of the Bastion cruiser. The fight was still ongoing but it was clear the Voth were losing. A larger Kzem ship had shown up and its weapons seemed to easily tear through the Voth ships. Limping on one foot, the shuttle was unable to flee the system before it would be detected. It was noted the Kzem and Voth were fighting in orbit over a planet, later named Dn'as III. The decision was made to attempt to land on the planet and lay low and attempt to signal for help if the opportunity arose. The pilot threw the shuttle into a spin and shut down all power, drifting as debris through the chaotic melee of Voth and Kzem ships towards the planet. Upon hitting orbit the shuttle utilized the remainder of its power reserves to execute a "controlled crash landing".

A significant number of the shuttles crew and passengers were injured in the crash. There were also several casualties including a civilian archaeologist and an crewman engineer. Marines established a perimeter and began to provide field triage on those injured. A team of marines was sent to scout out the area. After several hours the team reported back that a Kzem compound was spotted several kilometers away. The scouting team advised they saw communications equipment present at the compound. The decision was made to evacuate the crash site and head towards the compound. With the battle in orbit coming to a close the survivors of the crash collected their wounded and prepared to head in the direction of the compound.

"Break Through"

Lance Corporal Blane Yalin
1st Lt Snow Jones (Limrie Resident)
1st Lt Stampede Jones ( (Snowflower Fairey)
1st Lt. ScreaminEagles (ScreaminEagles Turbo) (As Kzem Guard)
Lt Col亗кιαяα Dɛʟɢօȶȶɨ™-Mαsudo亗 (Kiara1 Noel)
Lt Col Kyle Asbrink (As Kzem Guard)
Lt Commander James Williams (As Kzem guard)

In a last ditch effort to signal for help, the survivors of the shuttle crash decided to try and assault and secure a Kzem compound located several kilometers away. Those marines still combat effective advanced on the Kzem compound using he cover of the forests surrounding it. The marines carried out a pincer maneuver on the compound taking out its outer sentries before attempting to push into the compound itself. Their advantage of their ambush quickly fell apart, the Kzem were quick to react and pushed the marines back several times with overwhelming numbers and firepower.

After several failed assaults and counterattacks the fighting drew to a standstill. The Kzem bunkered down in their fortified buildings, whereas the Marines remained concealed within the forests surrounding the compound. Concern was raised over the Kzem calling in reinforcements from orbit. While the ships were still engaging the voth, it was clear they were winning the fight and the battle would soon be over. On a deadline, the marines made one final push on the compound. The best marksman in the group laid down cover fire and picked off any Kzem who attempted to halt the assault. The remainder of the marines charged across the open plane between the forest and the compound taking several casualties in the process.

The Kzem's grip on the compound began to quickly weaken once the marines were inside, The marines used the tactics they had spend weeks honing on Alienum to clear out the compound building by building until the full compound was held. A sweep of the compound revealed it to be a weapons cache. Scattere around the compound were massive stockpiles of nuclear weapons, chemical weapons and biological agents. Lt Jones and several other combat engineers worked to disarm and disable as many of the weapons as possible. Meanwhile a team of marines stormed the command tower at the rear of the compound. Inside a communications array was located. After some modification the marines were able to send a general distress signal to Starfleet.

The marines then regrouped in the courtyard. They discussed what to do next. While the compound was secure, there was still a risk of Kzem reinforcements arriving from orbit. There was also a risk of the compound being attacked from orbit and the ordinance stored there exploding, needless to say this would not leave anyone alive to be rescued. The decision was made to retreat back into the forest and await rescue. The marines would work with the survivors who stayed at the shuttle to set up concealed positions. The survivors hoped rescue would come before their hiding spots were found by Kzem reinforcements.
