Stardate 200726: Task force Tarok Marine Deployment 1

Forces Command (FORCECOM) is charged with the administration of the units of the Corp as well as overseeing all detachments and marines in the Corp. All Marine OICs report to the FORCECOM Commanding Officer via the Monthly Status Report (MSR). The MSR that reaches the COFORCECOM starts from the Detachment and Task Force level. Each Detachment or Expeditionary Force OIC sends an MSR to their Ship CO and Division or Regiment OIC.

Summary: USS Shepard's CO requested an elite team of marines be deployed to assist with the rescue of their XO from the Kzem. Secondary objective was the extraction of their undercover intelligence operative. Marines from various detachments within the 1st regiment mustered at headquarters before traveling to the Sheppard to provide direct combat action.

Marines boarded a borrowed B'rel class vessel and used its cloak to land close enough to the Kzem compound to hoof it on foot. The compound was breached and cleared room by room. Minimal resistance was encountered on the above ground part of the compound. Upon further analysis it is believed our assault coincided with some sort of religious gathering. After the facility was cleared the assault team breached the underground portion of the facility. This area was composed of two subsurface levels. A small team locked the stairwell connecting the levels while the main marine Element cleared the first floor.

The first floor contained rooms for supplies, residential and communication equipment. The assault team quickly encountered heavy resistance. While outnumbered the team was able to push through this floor room by room. The Kzem fought using very aggressive tactics, not fearful of death. This made progressing treacherous. Some of their soldiers also used short range biological agents which caused our team to lose ground several times. Once this floor was cleared we were able to scavenge for intel and create an up-link from the communications room to our B'rel fighter. We hope the up-link has led to some actionable intel being acquired.

Upon the first floor being secure the marine element pushed down onto the second level. This level contained holdings cells more residential rooms and torture facilities. By this time Kzem reinforcements had arrived on the surface and were pushing down onto our flank. The assault team split into two even parts, one keeping our extraction route secure while the other team cleared the lower level. Heavy resistance was one against encountered, several of the assault were wounded taking them out of the fight. Due to the casualties gaining ground was incredibly slow. With superior tactics and training the assault team was able to clear the lower deck of hostiles.

With the help of the Sheppard's undercover operative we were able to open the door to the holding cell containing the Sheppard's XO. Medical attention was provided at which point the assault team moved back to the stairwell. All marine elements then took a moment to prepare for the final push back to the extraction zone. With the help of close air support from Lt Santana aboard the B'rel bird of prey the assault team was able to drive a spear through the Kzem reinforcements and push on to the extraction point. The assault team then boarded the B'rel class at which point the craft made a course for the Sheppard.

Upon arrival aboard the USS Sheppard those wounded were sent to sickbay. The remainder of the marines were dispatched to assist with damage control. The Sheppard was pursued by a Kazon class of vessel but were able to outrun it with their QSD. The marines have been given temporary quarters to give time for the wounded to recover. Once stable the marines will travel by shuttle back to HQ at which point they will be flown back to their normal stations.

I anticipate further joint deployments in the coming months as the threat of the Kzem continue to evolve.

Major Asbrink,
Signing off.
