Mission 220213 Asteroid Barrage

Starfleet re-established its first Colony in the Gamma Quadrant on Astraios Prime on stardate 110111. SS Astraios is a space-station in high orbit above the planet Astraios Prime, to help with its protection and provide a base for the local fleet. UFS Astraios Colony and SS Astraios are tasked with the mission of ‘broadening horizons’ within the Gamma Quadrant, by exploring strange new worlds and seeking out new civilisations.

The opportunity for roleplay Missions is enhanced by the ready availability of a wide variety of locations. As well as the space station SS Astraios and on board NPC ships, including our flagship the Galaxy-class USS Neil Armstrong, there are locations on Astraios Prime (both within the Colony’s many Starfleet regions and on the rest of the planet) and more, both on 3rd Rock Grid and other Grids via the Hypergrid.

In addition to role-play, UFS Astraios hosts a weekly Starfleet Boogie each Tuesday and various events throughout the year.

Having received a Priority One message from a Dr. Kavorkian, we learned that several large asteroids were bearing down on his planet and research station. We made haste to get to his location.

When we arrived, we discovered that Kavorkian's team had found an Iconion Gateway, destination unknown. This Gateway also had the ability to change its size, to accommodate any ship entering through it. And judging by the size and velocity of the oncoming asteroids, this portal would be destroyed by them, as well as much of the planet's surface. We proceeded to transport the team of researchers onto the USS Armstrong. Once on board, we searched for the cause of these launches.

It turns out that there was an ancient machine capturing these astroids and hurling them at the planet very methodically. All asteroids were of a similar chemical content and all were travelling at an identical speed and heading.

The research team studied the asteroid launcher and determined that it was automated, and more importantly, it had a reset code. We applied the reset code to the machine.
