TDRP2219: "Af-Kelt" (220521)

The USS Taylorholic Durant is considered to be the Flagship of the UFS Fleet. We are honoured to have Admiral Mike Calhoun as our former CO and as a current crew member, as well as other luminaries. We are para-RPers and storytellers. Using live, in-the-moment chat, we listen, read, respond, and create a new story as a collective of writers jamming on a theme. We are given a context – a place to begin and then improvise together what happens next, and what happens after that… and where does that take us.
That sense of being in fellowship with other creative people who understand the overall context and environment while writing a story that is vibrant and alive creates a sense of enjoyment and togetherness. Our goal on Durant is to foster that sense of belonging, to embrace good RP etiquette, and to have tons of fun!

MISSION TDRP2219
==============

STARDATE:220521
CREW START TIME: 9:00am SLT

LOCATION TO MEET: Tramlu Conference Room
RP STARTS: Tramlu Conference Room

WHAT TO WEAR:
UFS Alternate Timeline Duty Uniform
Durant Chat Relay
Phasers

MISSION LEAD/GM: Fleet Captain Evelyn Rieko

POST ORDER: Will be decided, and posted, by the Mission Leader just prior to mission start (and sometimes adjusted in the RP if necessary).

ARRIVING LATE? Ensure to enter the scene in a logical manner.
NEED TO LEAVE EARLY? Justify your exit.

SITREP: Everything has changed on the USS Durant, but most of the officers are unaware of the change. They believe this is their normal, everyday life. However, their lives have been changed, and they are now living in an alternate timeline. An El-Aurian crew member LTjg Ginrai Yamabushi has been having severe attacks making him physically sick and mentally unstable. The doctor has diagnosed him with an El-Aurian illness called Af-Kelt.

The Durant is in a warzone, and on its way to Cronon to deliver two civilian passengers Jim Hode and Evelyn Rieko-Hode. A war is raging between the two planets Cronon and Tramlu. The Durant Command Officers and crew have been informed this mission is classified, so they do not know the details, but the Command Officers have logically deduced that the two civilians are being taken to Cronon to broker peace.

**Now the Durant away team and James Hode are in a meeting on the Tramlu vessel Raygon with Captain Issa Reelu and Captain-Commandant Adafo Mylonis. In this meeting the former Durant CO, James Hode has stated this as fact now, that he is there to bring about peace between the Cronons and Tramulans. The Tramlu Captains are doubtful this can be done, but they are also hopeful.

They have hope, after hearing Captain Jordan speak of similar oppression on his home world earth, and then the Durant first officer spoke of his planet Vulcan's near self-destruction. Knowing that these two planets resolved their issues and now live in peace gives the Tramulans hope.
The Tramulans are an empathic race, and can sense some things like emotions in others, but can not hear others' thoughts.

Meanwhile:
Dr. Thera Zh'qoloq is on the Durant researching Af-Kelt, in order to treat LT jg Ginrai Yamabushi, and give him some relief. The fact that he has this illness is proof that they are all living in an alternate timeline. This is difficult for he to comprehend and accept but it has become a fact. They are in an alternate timeline. Dr. Zh'qoloq has alerted the Captain and she has contacted the Federation Department of Temporal Investigations with this information and is gathering more. (They already know).

Also:
Someone has sent an unauthorized communication from the Durant to some ship, or someone. Who among the crew would do such a thing? There is a traitor onboard, someone with their own agenda secretly sending out a message. There is a mystery here. Suspicion falls on some of the bridge crew.

The Suspects are:
1) The Romulan Centurian S'Lina, because she has shown she is treacherous, by suggesting destroying ships that are standing down and wanting to speak at a diplomatic meeting with the Durant Captain and officers. Also, through comments she's made it's obvious she has sided with the Cronons against Tramlu.

2) Lt. Ginrai Yamabushi, because he is behaving so strangely and out of control at times. He could have sent some type of message out to someone and possibly not even be aware that he did it. His mental state and his physical state are deteriorating. Dr. Thera Zh'qoloq is trying to get him to sickbay so that she can run tests on him, but he has run away from the bridge. Lt. Sandra Lacrima has been ordered to find him and bring him to sickbay.

3) Cadet Grimalkin Hunsaker, because he doesn't know where he's been or what he's done before coming to the bridge. He hasn't shared this information with anyone on the bridge yet.
There is a mystery here that must be solved.

The two planets Cronon and Tramlu are in the Talaiporía system in the Vaquerro Sector.

FYI: The Department of Temporal Investigations was a department within the Federation government, tasked with ensuring that time travel events were handled within guidelines established to prevent contamination of the timeline. As of 2373, James T. Kirk had the biggest file on record in the Department, with seventeen recorded temporal violations.

RP NARRATIVE
===========

Issa Reelu looked around at the officers seated, and then her gaze came back to the Vulcan. He looked similar to Tramulans, at least his ears were similar, and she liked them! She felt a slight kinship because of those ears. She nodded, listening, as the Vulcan First Officer told them about the conflict on his planet Vulcan, she looked to him and said, "Commander Narek, this is a fascinating history of your people. You went through a period of unrest, of savagery, of violence and hatred ...of fighting and war. It is incredible how you all nearly destroyed yourselves yet through the teachings of one man... Surak, you were able to resolve your differences and bring peace to your race and your planet. That is amazing, a miracle. If only we could have such a miracle here between Tramlu and Cronon... if only there were such a man here... on Cronon or Tramlu. Someone like your Surak." Her gaze went to the man dressed in gray. Looking at him as she spoke the last sentence and wondering could he be such a man.

Adafo Mylonis nodded as Issa finished her speech. "Cronon and Tramlu have been in conflict for many years. It is only recently, since we 'acquired' warp technology from the Cronons, that we have come to be seen by some of them as equals. Nobody wants war, but we believe that a good defense is the strongest offense, to coin a phrase. So we put a lot of effort and money into building our fleet, and now we can stand on the galactic stage as equals to any race. I shall step down from my glorp box now (we used to stand on empty glorp boxes in the village square to make proclamations. Just part of our culture)."

S'Lina listens as the Tramlu Captain speaks of the Vulcans' history as she slips into the chair in front of her, quickly unbuckling the holster at her side. She raises an eyebrow hearing the rebel boast of their fleet's strength and takes note of it.

James Hode sat at the conference table on the Tramlu vessel, breathing slowly to keep his nerves in check. A thousand thoughts would go through his mind, scattering his focus like a child running noisily through a puddle. He closed his eyes briefly, aware that his stance, his attitude, his expression, and the sound of his voice would speak more than his words ever could. The Durant and its crew were here because of him, because of him and Evelyn, and because... because of things they would never know about, if everything went as it should. They were fully engaged in this mission to a warzone, fully committed to see it through although they didn't know the actual extent of the mission. For their sake, as well as Evelyn's sake... and... everything else, he needed to stay in control and articulate his thoughts in a civil, grounded and meaningful way. He saw Evelyn's face in his mind. So beautiful, so expressive, so caring. It slowly morphed into another face... and thence to another world, another place, a memory... it reminded him of his purpose and his reason for being here. He cleared his throat, took a breath and said, "I cannot claim to be Surak. But I have negotiated peace between parties, and between worlds, as a Starship Captain, and those skills are the reason I am here. I hear your words and your wish for self-determination. I hear the compassion and the care you have for your people. I hear the anguish of a thousand deaths, and more, fighting for your freedom." His voice grew stronger, and full of passion: "I will be your messenger. I will be a neutral person, an alien, someone for whom the end result of peace matters! Because it means... it means the children of the Tramlu people, and the children of the Cronon people, will have a better life. A life of peace and prosperity. If I can do one," he choked a little on his own emotion, "One ... small thing to bring that to pass, I will do it." He stood and bowed to them. "I pledge my life to this task." Then he slipped quietly back into his seat, quickly wiping a tear from his face.

Narek Siva'nek nods to Captain Reelu but adds a caveat to my story after hearing Hode make his pronouncements. "Yes we finally found peace through the teachings of Surak at the end of our last most devastating war that nearly ended our world, he also dying in that last conflict, and it took time for us to move into enlightenment through his teachings. Some did not wish to follow the teachings of Surak and broke away, flying outward to create their own world based on the old violent society. They exist still. I would press upon you not to allow that to happen with your people if it is possible, and keep them as a whole."

Syl Caproni slips in and takes a seat at the end of the table, hoping nobody would notice his absence. He's been holed up in his quarters cramming for his final exam in his Science Officer correspondence course from Indiana University, and shows signs of intellectual frazzle. As if there was any other condition for him. Syl tucks a copy of "Astrophysics for Dummies" under his elbow as he leans in on the table, and smiles, pretending he's been there all along, listening to the talk about peace and nodding sagely but refraining from chiming in so soon.

Sandra Lacrima entered sickbay and directly turned to Ensign Mudden to replace him as a guard in sickbay. After exchanging some words, Ensign Mudden left and she walked over to Lieutenant Yamabushi, who, being restrained to the biobed, was still talking and singing like an insane person. Not sure if he recognized her, she didn't dare to approach him directly, so she turned towards Dr. Zh'qoloq. "Hey Doc, how is the Lieutenant doing? And... what is he talking about? When I came in I heard scraps of words like "Timeline" "you're not a member of this crew" and "the Sickness".. that's so strange!" she asked her and looked back to Lieutenant Yamabushi with a concerned look.

Thera Zh'qoloq looked at Ginrai and felt worried as he continued tapping his fingers on the biobed and singing, even though he was in restraints, he was able to move his fingers and he tapped tap tapped them to some rhythm in his mind as she administered a stronger dose of the sedative drug diphenylmethane.  She looked to Sandra saying, "This should calm you down a bit. Then looking down at Ginrai said, “Ginrai, I have added a drug to calm you, and calm your nausea and headaches as well." She responded to Sandra, "I'm worried about Ensign Yamabushi. He seems to be getting worse. He has a condition called Af-Kelt. This is affecting all of us though nor physically. It affects our lives Af-Kelt is a sickness of the El_Aurian people when there has been a change to the timeline." She felt there was no breach of confidentiality in speaking of his condition, since it affected them all.

Ginrai Yamabushi lies back and taps in the rhythmic tone of the drums that keeps playing in his head. He looks up to see Ensign Lacrima. The first of which was Sandra wearing her Starfleet Uniform from this time, and the other... wearing a uniform from another time. He lets out a loud sigh, as he tries to keep tapping the rhythmic tones. He looks up at the lights and replies, "Doctor..." he starts to say, "I need to ask, can I play music here? I want you to hear what I am hearing in my mind to keep myself..." he still feels the pain, as he looks at the Andorian Doctor, "... stable..." his finger keeps typing a jazz rhythm against the biobed.

Zania Turner remained on the bridge to monitor the mission and situation, just as she had indicated to the CO before he departed for the transporter room. It was important to keep an eye on those that beamed over, as well as all communications, while she continued her investigation as to who sent that message. She really needed to get to the bottom of this to preserve the safety of the ship and crew, even if she may not have trusted everyone or they may not trust her. As she continued to research the situation, that's when she got a message, a summons to join the rest of the crew on the Tramlu vessel. She hoped that she'd be informed the moment there was a discovery with the investigation, but for now she headed to the transporter room to beam over and join the others.

Hal Jordan listened to everyone's speeches and decided that the talks were getting off to a great start. The Tramulans seemed to be the most "warlike" of the two races, but maybe he didn't know enough about them to make such a judgment. "The human race used to be a horrible bunch when we first got started on planet Earth. Our ancestors did some things that are too barbaric to mention in polite company, so I won't. Suffice it to say that we have come a long way since our early days, and such primitive actions are now a part of our ancient past. When Starfleet was formed, we on Earth realized that humans have a particular talent for communication and negotiation. We have put that talent to use for many races across the galaxy. I have no doubt that these talks will go well with Captain Hode at the table. He's one of our most talented mediators."

Reelu nods, looking at Adafo as he spoke with pride of their people and how they had come so far in technology and wisdom... and could govern ourselves. She felt pride and sat a little taller in her seat. Then she looked to the man in gray as he spoke. Hode is his name... James Hode. She looked to him and listened. She could feel him! The Tramlu race were empathic, but sometimes they could not 'feel' the alien races as much as they would like to. But this man, this James Hode, she could feel his emotions clearly and strongly, and his compassion was huge. But as he continued speaking she realized that one did not have to be empathic to realize this man cared a great deal about the Tramlu and Cronons and he cared about peace. "Mr. Hode, I feel your compassion and understanding, and I believe you will give your all to help bring about peace to Cronon and Tramlu." She did not know if his all would work to bring about peace but she knew he would try. She looked to him. "I know you will try." She looked to Captain Jordan and said, "I am very happy to hear you say that he is a most talented mediator... that's what we need." She turns to Adafo and says, "I think we should contact Cronon. Your ship was on the way there. Contact them and let them know we will accompany you for peace talks."

Mylonis smiled as he heard the encouraging words from Starfleet. He was filled with confidence now. "We of Tramlu are good at many things. We believe that our starships are superior to those of Cronon, and the battle tactics that we have developed are superior too. But we have never developed a talent for negotiation. The Tramulan Way is to protest and demonstrate and make demands. We would be grateful for the opportunity to observe your mediation efforts and learn what we can. It's obvious that our methods have failed." He turned to Issa. "You're right, I believe we are ready to get started. I will contact my ship and have them put in the call to Cronon." He turned away and spoke quietly into his communication link.

S'Lina shakes her head slightly as she listens to James' emotional speech. "These Starfleet types and their meddling with the quadrant's affairs will bring about chaos if they are not careful," she thinks. She looks to James from the corner of her eyes, then leans forward to scan the Vulcan's hands and his readiness or lack of it to arm himself. Satisfied with what she has observed, S'Lina slips a hand into her jacket's pocket inconspicuously, fiddles with something inside for a split second. She looks up from what she was occupied with to the Science officer seated across her, S'Lina gives the man a glare and quickly replaces her hand on the front of her skirt.

Hode looked to the faces at the table, praying in his heart the Tramlu officers would hear the sincere concern of the Durant officers. The presence of the Romulan disturbed him slightly. In the long history of Starfleet the conflict between the Federation and Romulus had been a major factor in several ongoing conflicts. He reminded himself Starfleet would not accept exchange officers from enemy worlds. That in any... confrontation, someone had to make the first move towards peace. He searched his mind for any tidbit of information or knowledge he might have that could encourage the Tramlu to trust him. "Wait," he said to Adafo. "It is important," he agreed with Issa, "to get the Cronon to agree to a Federation arbitration. In order to do this, I... will need to be permitted to travel to the planet. They will need to allow our approach. In order for them to do this you may have to stand down and stay back, and give us space to proceed. I cannot know what is in your hearts and minds. I know I ask a difficult thing. But if I might suggest? That I be the one to make the contact? That I contact the leader... of the Cronon people and ask for a parlay? In this I might... use the myth of the Solio and Solia... suggesting that you, Tramlu are the Solio - strong and wise, and that Cronon, is the Solia... she who is beautiful and compassionate as well as intelligent. I might suggest that I be the arbitrator that bring these two entities together, forever linked in their hearts, forever working together for the betterment of all." He was sure any child on either world knew the age-old story of the star-crossed lovers who were fated to be together no matter what.

Siva'nek sits quietly, hands on my thighs, listening to the conversation. I wonder how Ginrai is doing. I am confident in the Doctor's capabilities to help him with his "sickness," if possible, which concerns me highly. I am thinking about all possibilities and aspects I can about time travel and the scientific understanding of it that we have at this time. Can two timelines overflow into each other, causing fluctuation, and if so, why? What is the root cause, and can we do anything about it? I will speak to the astrophysics lab and science department and see what they can offer as possible explanations. My eye continues to sway over to the Centurion, keeping tabs on her body movements and facial expressions. I see her hand move to her jacket's interior and make note of it in readiness for anything she may attempt. I keep my face placid, not revealing my concern and worry over this. I have been scanning the room, all exits and who is sitting where. I also listen to what the Tramulans were saying about their poor capability for negotiation and their superior battle tactics. I hope that they do not become like my race, full of itself at one time and everyone trying to rule everyone else. I hope very strongly that Hode can negotiate a Solio and Solia connection with these worlds, that is if we aren't all blasted out of our seats by the Romulan.

Caproni smiles disarmingly (he hopes) and nods in agreement every time peace is mentioned. If there is one thing that he learned in that correspondence course on psychology, it's almost impossible to achieve true peace with the humanoid condition, considering how little they are actually evolved from primates. Actually, aren't they really still primates? Well, his musings on the anthropology of humans continued, and he remained quiet, having nothing with which to further the conversation. Additional platitudes of "peace" and "kindness" wouldn't do anything more. Caproni suddenly notices the Centurion's glare, and blinks, not sure what he's done to deserve THAT look. He pushes his glasses up on the bridge of his nose with a forefinger, and tilts his head a bit quizzically at the woman. Syl's attention is still too frazzled to notice the Romulan's movements and have them cause any real suspicion.

Lacrima listened to the Doctor's report and felt the urge to express her perceptions. "When you say that this could affect all of us, do you think that there really was something like a change of our timeline? Cause, since about the same time Lieutenant Yamabushi started to have these seizures, I also had this strange feeling that something was wrong... I just couldn't tell what and it was nothing concrete, so I blamed the highly volatile situation the ship is in right now. But... what if he's right?" She looked back to Yamabushi again and noticed his fingers tapping on the bed in a melodious rhythm that sounded somewhat familiar to her.

Zh'qoloq checked Ginrai's medical readings and then turned to Sandra and said "Yes that is exactly what I am saying. There has been a change in the timeline. Your feelings are a subconscious reaction to the timeline change. Someone has changed it. We don't know who did it and we do not know how they did it, but it's been done. Yes. it is affecting all of us... everything really... the universe. Everything that we think is our truth... our lives may be corrupted and changed because of the timeline change. Everyone and everything is affected. It's like dropping a large pebble in water and there is a ripple effect that goes on and on." She bit her bottom lip as her thoughts went through her mind, looking again to Sandra and said, "I have alerted Captain Jordan of this and I have contacted the Federation Temporal Investigations." She looked back at Ginrai and said "Poor Ginrai, I think hypnosis may calm him more than the drugs seem to be doing."

Turner arrived where the others were and took a seat at the table, settling in to listen to what was being said. She had just joined in, so she didn't want to try to get clarification of what was already discussed while she was on the ship.

Jordan furrowed his brow into a slight frown as he heard Captain Hode speaking about the Solio and the Solia. There was something more there, the echo of a memory, something about the word 'Precia' too, maybe. He felt the color drain from his face and he could hear his pulse beat pounding in his ears. Hal had learned over the years to trust his judgment and instincts. If something felt 'off' then there needed to be an investigation to determine what was wrong. Where was this ghost memory coming from? Had he been to Cronon or Tramlu before? He thought harder, closing his eyes for a few seconds to listen to his memories. There was... a sound, a chilling sound of death. He opened his eyes and looked around the room, feeling confused.

Reelu looked to Hode as he stated his intentions and what he thought would be best, that he go alone first to Cronon and speak with the Queen. That wicked Queen... trying to hold on to ruling people that no longer want her to rule. Then he went on speaking of the myth of the Solio and Solia, she listened, almost mesmerized, as he told the story. She said, "Mr. Hode... the way you tell the myth of the Solio and Solia is a bit different than we on the two planets learn about it. It is two people, a man and a woman, that are destined to be together. They are soul mates, and when they do find each other and marry, Cronon will have a thousand years of prosperity and peace. But you will refer to it as the two planets being Solio and Solia, destined to be together and bring peace and prosperity." She shakes her head and smiles, looking at Hode, and says, "That's brilliant! And such a beautiful story. It touches the heart. Maybe if Cronon could see Tramlu as its Solio, things would change! I agree with your plan, Mr. Hode!" She smiled and shook her head again, feeling hope, then she felt something else. She could feel there was negative energy in this room and frowned for a few seconds, looking at Adafo, saying, "I feel someone here is trouble. Do you feel it? Focus and find out who it is. Her gaze went to the Romulan, and she whispered to Adafo, "It's the Romulan."

Mylonis looked across the table at Captain Jordan. The human appeared to be struggling with an internal conflict of some kind. He watched the Earthman with interest. Recognition of a problem, confusion at not knowing the answer, internal concentration, then looking around the room for the answers. He caught Adafo's eye, and the two of them shared a brief moment of understanding. The Tramulan Captain-Commandant had also seen things that he couldn't explain recently. He recalled the shocked expression on the face of the rogue Engineer on Defiance as he was being restrained in the infirmary. The man had insisted that the confinement beams holding the ship's artificial singularity were misaligned, yet they had always been set that way, as per procedure. He wondered briefly if Captain Hode's upcoming negotiation would end in tragedy, as had almost happened on Defiance. He heard Captain Hode's request to wait on the communication to Cronon, and spoke into his comm link again. "Acknowledged, Captain, we will wait on the notification." He whispered to Issa, "It may be the Romulan, but something is very wrong elsewhere, maybe everywhere!"

S'Lina sits up then turns towards the Tramulan at the head of the table. Her eyes meet Issa's gaze momentarily, then she looks over to the other Captain. She has been briefed by her own commanders of their abilities to sense emotional energies. She studies their faces for a while then sits back, her hand ready at her holster.

Hode waits with bated breath and a beating heart to see what the Tramlu officers will say in response to his suggestion. Would they agree? Would he be allowed to contact Cronon and speak to the Cronon leader, the Queen? He wondered what she was like. Would she listen? Would she be charming or aloof? Would she lean towards him, interested, or turn her head away? Every part of him shimmered with energy, anticipating... hoping they would allow him to take this step, to reach out, to speak to her, to hear her, to talk to her about.. about... the Tramlu people and their need for freedom, a freedom she could easily grant... "If you have any information on the status of their government or leadership, their protocols, their manner of doing things, it would help enormously. As much as you desire freedom there is a faction, I imagine, on Cronon who likes the status quo as it gives them power and prestige, and, I imagine, a great deal of money." If they were anything like the Terrans of centuries ago, they would be manufacturing weapons for the use of the Cronon forces... and then, through devious means, selling the same, or perhaps slightly damaged goods, to the Tramlu. How despicable. Would the Queen even know? Or would her advisors keep her in the dark? His face grew stern. But these thoughts were useless. He could not know her situation, but if he could be permitted some time with her, some conversation with her, perhaps he could learn her perspective and... challenge her to see his... well, not his, but the perspective of the Tramlu people, who had, long ago, wanted the training wheels removed, wanted to fly free, and they should be allowed such. They were not Cronon children. They were a fully fledged people with rights of their own. Would she see that? Would she... invite him in, to speak to her in person? To allow him to state his case? Would she? "She must talk to me," he blurted, the pain in his heart unbearable... adding quickly, "everyone is counting on it."

Siva'nek: My disciplined mind is focused in two directions... hearing the Captain's words and side glancing the Centurion. I get the feeling from this close proximity to the Captain and after years of serving together, that he has some strong inner stress going on. I quietly read each face in the room and feel high tension from the Tramulans. I keep my breathing even and regular though I am ready to pounce on any untoward behaviors like a cat balled up and ready to spring into action.

Caproni blinks a few times more as a wave of "weird" washes over him. All that time studying... science... why did he do that again? And why is it strange to see the world from his eyes when he walks? Things look different. He feels off... and that feeling develops more as the vibes from everyone at the table seem to get more tense, despite an apparent truce talk beginning between the warring planets. Syl eyes the Romulan diagonally from him, and wonders if she is the one causing all this unease? "Hard to imagine one woman could... whoa Caproni... that's sexist! That's not you!"

Lacrima got lost in thoughts for a while, her head running through all the scenarios. With her eyes fixed on Yamabushi, she talked to Doctor Zh'qoloq. "I don't know what scares me more, the war we're in right now or the effects of this manipulation of our timeline. I mean, are we really who we are right now? Should we be somewhere else, should we have a different personality, should we be existing at all? Just thinking too much about that must make one go gaga." *addressing Ginrai* "We need to know more, and I think you're the only person on board who could tell us more." *towards the Doctor* "I hope this will help him, Doc."

Zh'qoloq looks to Sandra, "Yes I hope this will help him. and yes this war is terrible, and who knows, maybe these planets would not even be at war killing each other if the timeline had not been changed. So many lives lost, so many killed and so much destruction to the planets. True, maybe we would be doing different things in the correct timeline, maybe some of us were never born. That's a weird thought, but very possibly true." She shivered thinking maybe she was never born, and would disappear when the timeline was corrected... if the timeline is corrected. Even if that is the case, she wants things back the way they should be, not this fabricated lie of an existence that everyone here had now. She looked to Sandra again. "The change was probably done by someone dissatisfied with their lot in life and that person wanted to change things to make things better for themselves. That is a very selfish person that does not care how he changed things for everyone else." She sighed, looked at Sandra, and said, "Yes, Lieutenant, I will authorize you to play your music." Then she turned back to Sandra and said, "I will try the hypnosis to get more information from Ginrai and to calm him and make him feel better as well."

Yamabushi defiantly orders the computer, "Computer: Play John Coltrane: A Love Supreme, circa 1965..." The opening cymbals sound like a sun going supernova, the saxophone coming in to play, Ginrai visualized it all as the universe all coming into fruition in song. The beat of planets forming and rotating to life. He could hear the stars burst into existence, through song, through every chord, every instrument playing its part, as the saxophone bursts into life in this symphonic universe, his fingers no longer tapping, twirling to the music, his eyes closed, he says, "Doctor, Ensign...do you understand now?" Yamabushi lifts his fingers as he twirls them around. He looks at Dr. Zh'qoloq and though seeing the split, he replies, "Do you hear how every note, every sound plays together in a harmony?" he points up, "My mother told me with that Old Earth American South accent, 'Boy, this is how yo' people, my people hear the galaxy.' She said that when she met Coltrane, he confessed that his father was El-Aurian. When he was young, Coltrane always heard this music." He spent a few minutes taking in the music as if he was taking in an aphrodisiac, he took a deep breath, "It was as if he consumed the universe in his ears and let it flow through music for those who could not hear or feel the universe." He looked around and took another deep breath, "There's a lot of uncertainty... I can feel it... nervousness: My mother told me never doubt an emotion, and that is what I'll tell you all, never doubt your emotions, and for now, do what you must...'' He rests his head on the sickbay biobed. A tear rolls down his face, as the memory of his mother floods his mind. "You'll know when something is wrong. Never doubt your emotions."

Turner continued to listen to the others, taking interest in what they had to say, but also had her own concerns about who sent the communication without authorization. She brought out a PADD to check on the progress of that investigation, keeping the info to herself for now until she had more detailed and concrete evidence.

Jordan looked across the table at the Tramulan Captain. His gaze was sympathetic. He knew, too. Something was very wrong with the universe. "Maybe Ginrai was right when he said that the timeline was corrupted. If it is, then this negotiation could be all wrong too. But is striving for peace ever really wrong? Maybe these talks will tie up the loose ends and bring the timeline back to where it should be. But we can't really know for sure. It's all very confusing."
