Mission #203: Let Sleeping Gods Lie

USS Maxwell, NCC-21873, is a Nova-class science and survey vessel based out of Pinastri Colony on the Second Life Grid. We are currently a mission of exploration in the Hapke Cluster, an open star cluster of some 10,000 star systems. We are open to new crew! Please inquire with Captain Nora Gerhadsen or with Commander April Coswell. We are particularly interested in Science, Engineering and Operations officers.

Roleplay Times: Thursdays 6pm to 8pm SLT
Commanding Officer: Captain Nora Gerhadsen
Executive Officer: Commander April Coswell

Moderators: Nora Gerhadsen, April Coswell, JayceRebel

Mission Name: Let Sleeping Gods Lie

Story Concept: April Coswell

The following information is IN CHARACTER information.

Location: A planetoid some distance from the Loganno Nebula

Alert Status: what's an alert status?

The USS Maxwell is holding position somewhere... while its crew seems to have lost the ability to run the ship. It's like those memories have been specifically selected and removed by that pulse from that satellite we encountered...

The computer has told us how to activate the Emergency Medical Hologram, and we're going down to sickbay to see if it can treat us.

In service,
Captain April Coswell, Executive Officer, temporarily in command of the USS Maxwell

OOC Notes:

- This notecard was done after the fact. Much fun was had!

* These duties are very general ideas, feel free to add to them and fill things in.

--> We are a scout and suppression ship. That means we find weird stuff sometimes. Create! Let's see what we all can come up with!

* Please allow people to do their jobs and be thoughtful of the fact that people join departments and divisions to do their jobs. Try not to step on their functions. If you have something to help someone (advise that they may or may not follow) instead of saying something publically, it might be more useful to IM them and discuss it with them.

* Departments should be working together. There should be enough possibilities for everyone as long as they all work together and cooperatively. Do not be afraid to do OOC planning in IM.

* This is more or less freeform, but please don't have it as "Q did this". We need to get ourselves out of our own jams (not that this has ever been a problem with this crew).

Remember that the point of all this is to have fun! Good luck and have at!

Executive Officer’s Log:

Stardate: 190218

Location: Leaving funerary planetoid at coordinates specified in Ops/navigation report - distance 168 million kilometers from Loganno nebula

Alert Status: green

With the help of our EMH, we were able to treat the sudden amnesia that had hit our crew regarding knowledge of ship’s systems. It seems that whatever beam the satellite hit us with, it targeted the part of our cerebellum that deals with day-to-day know-how. The EMH found significant inflammation in that part of the cerebellum in all involved, and was able to administer something to treat the inflammation. Gradually, but slowly, we regained our memories.

We later found the satellite to be not only guarding a tomb on the planetoid... but also chanting in binary verse. It seems that a monarch of some sort - who must have been pretty powerful - was buried here. The satellite chanted verse about the life of this monarch, but also the fate of those who would dare disturb his peace. Namely, that he smites them and strikes them with forgetfulness. A reference, surely, to the satellite’s defensive systems. As for the ships we found wrecked on the planetoid, we suspect that their crews, like ours, lost the ability to operate them and ended up crashing on the surface.

We deployed a warning buoy which, we hope, will warn away other ships passing through this reason. This place is, after all, a sanctuary not only to the buried king, but also to all those lost vessels.

A note - while waiting for treatment, I had sent out a call for help to Starfleet. They sent us Commander Kris Jameson... who, unfortunately, due to Lt. Silvercloud regaining his knowledge of ship’s systems only slowly, was transported through a floor and slightly injured. We have treated him and will be towing his shuttle as we make rendez-vous with the Veracruz to deliver him home.

In service,

Captain April Coswell
