Moonprince Rhode-Randt sat in the darkened living room of the quarters he shared with his husband. Kinney was asleep which is where Moon should have been but something had drove him from the comfort of his warm bed. Instead he sat watching the stars streak by as the ship headed to its next assignment. Moon looked back at the closed door that separated the living room from his bed room before saying softly, "Computer, open personal log for Moonprince Rhode-Randt and begin recording."

The computer beeped at Moon to signal it was recording.

"Personal Log, star date 161203. Do you ever get the feeling that something is off in your life? That's how I feel right now. I feel like something is missing in my life. I have felt that way for the last few days. I haven't talked to Kinney about this yet. I would say I am not sure if he has picked up on my feelings but I know that would be a lie. Kinney is my true soul mate and I swear that man knows me better then I know my own self. I think he is waiting for me to figure out what is going on before he offers his thoughts. He was always good like that."

Moon takes a deep breath before ordering, "Computer end log and save".

As the computer acknowledges his order he hears the door to his bed room open. "Moon," he hears Kinney say tiredly, "Come back to bed."

Moon looks over at Kinney and smiles before getting up and following him back to the comfort of their bed.

Personal Log, Moonprince Rhode-Randt

Stardate 160221

So since joining this crew as a full time engineer I have helped attack a Federation Starship, stolen a subspace relay, and now assisted in grand theft shuttlecraft. If the next objective is the theft of an actual starship I swear to whatever higher power is listening that I will slap my husband into the next century. Speaking of my husband, he is doing a good job of hiding it from the rest of the crew but I can see the strain he is under. For him this mission is personal and I have to admit that worries me. To be serving under a person who's mission is personal is a good way of getting yourself killed, hurt, or drummed out of the service. However I have to have faith that he will be able to keep from going over the edge. And I have to have faith in myself and Aryela that if we see him going over the edge we will be able to pull him back. I just hope both of us are up for that job.

Personal Log, Moonprince Rhode-Randt

Stardate: 170307

Its been a crazy few weeks but I have to say its good to be back aboard the Veracruz. Its good to be able to look in a mirror and recognize myself. Its been so long since I went with out my glasses and had hair. Not quite the hair that Skot had after that failed experiment but for me a radical change. I suspect Kinney is sad to see the hair go, even if that shade of red was not the most flattering on me. If I think of it later I will have to ask him what he thinks.

I did a full check of the propulsion systems after we got back and was surprised to see that the warp drive was actually maintained correctly. Well mostly correct. There was some minor misalignment in the Magnetic Constrictors. Not enough to cause any real issues so I decided not to berate the warp specialist on duty. I think the Lieutenant was shocked I let the issue go. Yes I could have been a JackA@@ like the Assistant Chief Engineer but I am just not in the mood right now. Speaking of the Assistant Chief, I think I may have found my Fargus again. Fargus was the Chief Medical Officer of the Shogun and had a tongue and mind as sharp as his quills. He had a hatred of engineers in general and the Engineering command staff in particular. Him and I would verbally spar at the drop of a spanner and I will admit he gave as good as he got. While Gron does not have that hatred of engineers he does have a sharp tongue and a sharp mind and is feared by most of the engineering staff because of it. I do not fear him however, I loath him at times but I can also see a day in the future where I might actually respect him. If only for his sharpness. Time will tell I guess.

Moon walks into the quarters he shares with his husband and orders the lights up one third. Moon peaked his head into the bed room and was a little surprised to see Kinney was not there. "Computer, locate Captain Randt."

"Captain Randt is currently in his Ready Room," replied the computer.

Moon nodded to himself as he ordered a drink from the replicator and sat down in the living area. "Computer, open personal log and record new entry, tied to this star date."

"Personal Log, stardate 180509, I am not sure how to put this but in the last 2 weeks I have died and came back to life. I know it sounds crazy but I remember the ship being attacked, overseeing DCT's from the bridge engineering station, when a overload happened that fried me. I remember the shock on my arms, and I remember flying backwards and then nothing. Until I was standing in engineering again at the MSD table. Science is researching what happened now but the current theory is that we got stuck in a time loop. All I do know is that I died, and now I am alive again. The damage from the attack has kept me too busy to really think about what happened but now that the ship is out of danger, I can't get the that out of my mind. I died. I died and made Kinney a widower!!!!! At least for a short time. How in the world could I have done that to him? How could I have.... I know I know, it wasn't something I could control and its not my fault but this event is making me consider if its wise to serve under my husband."

Moon downs his drink in one gulp and orders the computer to end log and save. Wiping the tears from his cheeks as he gets up, Moon heads to the bedroom in hopes of getting some sleep without reliving his own death or seeing Kinney's reaction to it.

Commander Moonprince Rhode-Randt took off his uniform jacket as soon as he walked into his quarters and tossed it on the bar next to the door and called out for his Husband. "Honey, I am home..." Not getting a response Moon checked the quarters to see if his husband was in another room.

"I wonder where he is at, he was off shift an hour ago. Computer locate Commodore Kinney Randt-Rhode please."

"Commodore Randt-Rhode is currently on board Tranquility station."

Grabbing his commbadge off his jacket he opened a channel to his husband. "Rhode to Randt, I just got off shift and I was hoping we could grab dinner together?"

Over the comm the voice of Moon's soul mate reply that he is wrapping up something and that he would love to have dinner in a half an hour. "That will be fine Kinney. I will grab a quick shower and meet you at the Tranquility's Officer lounge. Moon out."

As Moon went about getting cleaned up and changed he ordered the computer open his personal log and begin recording.

"Personal Log, stardate 180705. It feels like forever since I have had a chance to sit down and record my thoughts like this. If I ever start complaining about boring survey missions or simple star mapping missions I need to be slapped. Lately it feels like I am married to the Warp core instead of Kinney. Due to us working different shifts in the last few months can count on two hands the number of times we have had one on one time with each other. I know its not his fault and that we have responsibilities to both this ship and Starfleet that sometimes pushes our needs to a secondary or even trinary position. But is still hard and while I hate all the work our last engagement has put on the engineering team, it has forced us back to dock which is allowing Kinney and I to try and spend more time together. In fact, I need to get going or I am going to be late."

As Moon did the final touch on his hair, he ordered the computer. "End Log, store and encode as normal."

As the computer acknowledged his request, Moon attached his commbadge to his off duty shirt and quick-timed it out of his quarters and off to Dinner.

Fleet Captain Moonprince Rhode-Randt sat alone in the conference room just off of Main Engineering on Deck 14 sipping a glass of water as he reviewed and approved the duty roster for the next 2 weeks. Looking out the window as the ship cruised at warp 5 to its next destination, the tired officer decided now was a good as any time to dictate a log.

"Fleet Captain's Personal Log, Stardate 210427. It still feels odd saying that. I never expected to make it past Commander but here I am not just a Captain, but a Fleet Captain. I know both Kinney and Kermie would say it was more then earned but somedays it does not feel that way. Speaking of Kinney and Kermie, I must be a glutton for punishment because somehow we ended up married. Both Kinney and Kermie are now my Co-Husbands? I wonder if I should add another hyphen to my name so Rhode-Randt-Mistswallow? Wow that really doesn't roll off the tongue very well does it? I think I may keep my name the same as it is now. I am sure Kermie would understand... Right? Something to talk with him and Kinney about next time we are on the holo comm together.

End Log"

Fleet Captain Moonprince Rhode-Randt laid deep asleep next to the man who is his first husband when a call from the bridge woke him up. =A="Bridge to Fleet Captain Rhode."=A=

Moon groaned in frustration at getting woke up in the middle of a good dream as he reached for his commbadge he left on the nightstand. =A=Rhode here. Something better be breaching, crashing, or dying Mr. Miller or else your going to be cleaning the waste processing tanks for the next 2 weeks." =A=

Moon looked over to find Kinney turning over and covering his head with a blanket as the duty officer, Lt. Erik Miller could be heard gulping before responding , =A="I am sorry to bother you sir but you have Code 47 message coming in from Starfleet Intelligence " =A=

~Code 47?~ He thought to himself as he got out of bed, grabbed his robe from the chair, and left the bedroom to let Kinney sleep and to have privacy for a very unusual message.

Sitting down at the desk in the living area, =A="I will take it in my quarters Lt. Miller. Rhode out=A=

Activating the monitor the seal of Starfleet Intel came up as the computer stated. "This is an emergency communique. It is not to be discussed with fellow officers unless deemed absolutely necessary. There will be no computer record of said transmission. "

Taking a deep breath wondering just what the hell was about to come into his world now, Moon acknowledged the warning.

"Please proceed with voice print identification, " ordered the computer.

"Rhode-Randt, Moonprince. Fleet Captain, Chief Engineer, USS Veracruz."

The screen hummed as the computer responded. "Voice Print verified. Beginning playback. "

Moon sat back as the current head of Starfleet Intelligence back on Earth, "Vice Adm. Wolf appeared on screen."

"Fleet Captain Rhode, The following information is classified at level 11 clearance or higher and is not to be shared with anyone outside of those involved in the mission. This includes the rest of the command staff of the Veracruz. Approximately 2 days ago the Luna class Long Range Exploration ship USS Deimos was found adrift in the in Mythos system at the edge of Kessok Confederacy. The Deimos was designated a test ship to test an experimental upgrade of the Class 5 QSD. Starfleet Intelligence needs someone who has Command Training, Starship Design, and heavy experience dealing with QSD drives which is why we have decided to tap you for this. In 12 hours the Starship Pingyao will rendezvous with the Veracruz. Once she arrives you are ordered to take command of the Pingyao and report to the Mythos system with all do haste. Once you are on site our are to examine the Demos and figure out what happened to the ship and crew. Admiral Wolf out."

As the screen went blank Moon couldn't help but let out a curse "Oh Bloody Hell!! How the hell am I going to explain this to Kinney?"

Moon walked into the quarters he shared with his husband and son after an extra half shift on duty overseeing system checks and updates after their latest run in with a curious alien race. Moon had already checked with sickbay and was not surprised to find Kinney standing in doorway of their son's room, the lights dimmed. Taking off his uniform jacket and draping it on the back of one of the bar stools, Moon walks up to his husband and hugs him from behind.

Looking over Kinney's shoulder at his sleeping teenage son, Moon whispers to Kinney asking how Aziz is doing.

Kinney leans his head against Moons as he responds in a quiet voice, "The medical team says he will be okay. They gave him a sedative so he should sleep thru tonight. He barely stired when I carried him back to our quarters and put him to bed. "

"You got him back here all on your own?, Without the use of an anti-gravity unit? I am impressed Mr. Randt-Rhode, If I tried that the doctor would be working his magic on my back."

Moon expected a chuckle or a smile from that but could feel Kinney tense up a little. "You okay mi amor?"

"Just thinking about what was said earlier today, Do you think the high priestess was right? Am I a bad father because I don't have as deep of a connection as you and Aziz share?"

It took all of Moon's inner strength to not respond in a sarcastic manner. Taking Kinney's by the hand, he motioned for them to go into the living room. Sitting down on the sofa and motioning for Kinney to sit next to him, "No your not a bad father Kinney. Why would you even think that?"

"You are chief engineer of this ship but you still find time to deal with his school needs, You are learning Romulan with him, you took him to visit Te'ellis just so he could learn more about his Romulan side. He loves it when you let him assist with repairs and upgrades. I feel like all I do is act stern and make him do his homework and eat his vegetables."

Moon couldn't help the smile that came to his face, "Oh baby, you do more than that. Your teaching him what it takes to be a good leader. Your teaching him how to treat people with love and respect. And I know for a fact that he would love to share some piloting lessons with you. He may become a gifted engineer like me, but he has the wild mustang of a soul like you. He is a very decent pilot who could become a master with your help."

"And think back to your relationships with your parents. When you where growing up didn't the relationship you had with your mom differ from the relationship with your dad?"

Kinney simply nodded his answer.

"Then don't pay any mind to what that high mucky muck said. We are both first time dad's Kinney, we are both going to make mistakes, but one thing I know for sure is that we both care for that green pointy-eared teenager in the other room. "

"Now what say you and I have a quick bit of dinner and then get some rest."

Moonprince Rhode was standing at the warp control console in front of the warp core doing the final checks on the warp drive when he noticed his Vice Chief talking quietly with one of their junior engineers. Moon gave it a mental shrug when he heard the junior engineer say, "There is no way in hell I am going to tell him, He is already angry at the mess we are dealing with now."

Moon didn't catch Gron's response but he almost laughed as he saw them play a round of rock paper scissors with Gron winning and quickly exiting the engine room.

Moon watched as the young Lt. approach him like a person approaching the electric chair. "Uhhh.. Sir....."

Moon started a diagnostic on the plasma injectors before looking back at the Lt. "What is it Hanson?"

Taking a deep breath, Lieutenant Hanson shakenly replied, "Sir... As requested I have completed an inspection of all our shuttles."

Moon nodded his head absently as he reads over the results injectors and noticed that one of the injectors in the starboard nacelle is out of alignment and will need to be taken off line. "Don't tell me we lost one of the new runabouts? We just got them. "

"Ah no sir... We do need to make some repairs on the Tuxpin but it should be back up in a week or two. The issue is the," Hanson paused for a moment before quietly continuing, "Captain's shuttle sir."

Moon stops what he is doing and just stares at Hanson before leaving the engine room and walking to the shuttle bay to see how bad it was for himself.

It wasn't until Moon was standing in front what was left of the El Tajin, a large hole where the front of the shuttle used to be. "Oh my lord Kyle is going to die when Kinney finds out about this."

Moon walked around the wreck trying to figure out the best way to fix this, "Computer, I need to record a high priority message to Doka Kilmchin, quartermaster of Surplus Depot Z15. Message as follows: 'Doka looking for a miracle. I need to locate an intact class F shuttle shell ASAP. Please send me any leads you have. Best wishes. Moon.'"

"Message Recorded, do you wish to send?" asked the computer.

"Yes and alert me of any responses," ordered Moon as he walked back to his engine room, wondering how the hell he was going to tell his Husband his baby is in a bad way.
