Captain's Log:

Stardate: 200506

Alert Status: Green

Today we welcome aboard a new security officer, Ensign scottland "Elsa" Resident to the USS Veracruz. We look forward to her joining our crew.

The USS Veracruz has been assigned to patrol near the newly created Romulan neutral zone. While there have not been any issues thus far, Starfleet wants them to know we are mentally ready, and physically capable, to defend our side of the border, should they attempt to expand their domain here in the Delta Quadrant.

Our plan is to visit one of the colonies near the border, and make our presence felt, just to be sure that all is well.

Voice Recording:

I took control of the Helm at the beginning of the shift and set a course of 107 mark 83. I engaged at Warp 5 and listened to the going-ons around me while flying the ship. Not long into our course, we received a distress call that required me to change course to Zero Mark 4 1 7 23 and speed up to Warp 9 so we could respond to the distressed faster.

We eventually came across a Deredex-class Romulan warbird holding a Federation supply ship hostage in a tractor beam. After a short confrontation, we managed to get the warbird to break off their little 'game' and we proceeded to the colony without further incident.
