=/\= MISSION BRIEFING =/\=
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
OIC’s Log – Lt. Commander Oola Quan, commanding.
The Colony seems plagued with increasingly dangerous quakes. The reason for the instability is currently unknown, nor why these quakes weren't detected in over 2 years of planetary surveillance and research prior to establishing a colony. There were seismic stabilizers on route, but was taken by pirates. Most of the damage to the colony superstructure has been repaired, along with the restoration of the power systems. With power restored, the lift to the mining camp was functional. There were several miners trapped below, and the condition of the camp was unknown. Our goals are to render aid where we can, try and determine the reason for the quakes, and see if we can do anything to minimize future quakes.

Science Report on Aries IV
Prepared by LtJg Ferre Flamand
Aries IV, fourth star of 7 in the Aries system, a G5 star comparable to Sol.
Diameter : 6855 km
Mass : 6.522 x 10²³ kg
Escape velocity : 5.133 km/sec
Density : 4.011 g/cm³
Day length : 23 Hr 17 min 58 sec
Year length 626 days
Albedo : 19 percent
Core composition Fe and Ni
High amounts of Tritanium
Distance to the (single) main star : 210.000.000 km
Because of the high degree tilted axle (71°) the seasons are very different, and it's not a walk in the park to live there. Temperatures vary between -82°C in wintertime and 112°C in summertime.
Aries IV had a breathable atmosphere till about 12 million years ago but lost it because of a runaway greenhouse effect. As a result, the atmosphere turned toxic with high ammonia concentrations, but it boosted the tritanium quantities enormously.
Spacesuits are therefore a necessity and strict precautions, and security measures must be followed strictly at all times. A leak in a spacesuit is deadly, even in a very short time.
