Please be advised, this was sent in at the beginning of January. I wanted to wait until P&A Closed for the month before making it public.

Director Promotions & Awards
United Federation Starfleet
January 1, 2023.
FLT ADMR Milesprower Dagger &
ADMR Kermie Mistwallow
The Office of the Commander in Chief
United Federation Starfleet
Dear Sirs:
Over my two stints with UFS, there have been two positions that I can honestly say have been my favourites. The first is being a Starship Captain, which happily I get to do again very soon. The second is being Director of Promotions and Awards, a job that took a good deal of investigative work, as well as regular organization and planning. I enjoy organization, planning, creativity and all those things are found in both positions. Sadly though, the two positions are also in conflict of each other and I knew that would be the case when I started the road to resuming a ship command in United Federation Starfleet.
I understand fully, and respect, the conflict of interest rules that United Federation Starfleet has put in place and have no wish to breach them or cause any difficulty with them. Therefore, while my preference would be to keep both jobs, I know I cannot and do tender my resignation effective on January 28th of this year in order to ensure a smooth transition and consistency for this month's P&A.
My replacement has been selected by ADMR Mistwallow with my input, and I believe that Jim Schmidt (Jimmbo Resident) will do an excellent job. To help him along, I’ve been creating video instructions of the various processing duties of the job. I will continue to create these throughout the month in an attempt to cover as many facets of the position as possible. They are in a folder in the P&A Drive so if they are deemed useful, they may be used in the future as well. For now, I hope they serve as a helpful reference point for Jim who I know will have every success in the position.
I truly have enjoyed my tenure as Director of Promotions and Awards and hope that I have helped UFS in some small way over the last few months.
In Service to the Fleet,
CAPT Ulrich Bechir

Ulrich, you have been an excellent Director of Promotions and Awards. I love the way you took the time to educate and re-educate us on the P&A process and how and why we should nominate someone for promotions and awards. You did an amazing job, and always giving the feeling that you are there to help and very accessible, and you did a lot for morale. Always encouraging. I enjoyed reading your Forum Posts as Director of Promotions and Awards, and now I look forward to reading your Forum Posts as CO of your ship!

Ulrich, for as long as I have known you you have spoken with such pride about your work with UFS and I know the dedication you have provided the role you held as as Director of Promotions and Awards. I got to watch from a distant the hours and hard work you applied to the role to make sure that the job was done correctly and fairly. Listening to you talk about all the amazing people and adventures here at UFS inspired me to move to a front seat and I am very much looking forward being part of your crew as the USS SHoGUN launches.

Thank you, Ulrich, for your dedication and diligence in what is a very demanding and vital position. Your timely notices and accessibility for questions has been exemplary and will be missed, but I am sure enough of you has rubbed off on The Incredible Jimmy Schmidt, to make the transition as seamless as possible.
Once again, Thank you and Congratulations as you take to the stars with USS Shogun.

Thank you for your invalueable service to the group in this position, Ulrich. In your tenure, I've witness the transparency and the high level of professionalism the Promotions and Awards board is run and done. You've also shared and guided us all how promotions and awards recommendations are best written and encouraged all to be a part of the process.
You've taken the good work done by the predecessors of the position and build on it to a higher level.

All the best, Jim Schmidt and thank you for taking this on and I know you'd build on and Boldly Go Forward even more!
