UFS Titlers
Moderators: Aryela Dagger, Nora Gerhadsen
I have been noticing a lot of variation in titlers lately, so I would like to touch on the proper look of titlers. Everyone's titlers should be uniform across the board. Here is how everyone's titler should read:
Rank | Branch
Position | Ship/Station
Race
So, for example, if you were to look at my titler, it would read
Captain | Command
Commanding Officer | USS Shogun
Human
Also, for those that hold multiple positions, do not have every position you hold listed on your titler. Use only your primary position that you hold. Your titlers should not look like the following
Captain | Command
Commanding Officer, USS Shogun
Vice Chief of UF Starfleet Operations
Colony Commander, Pinastri Colony
Human
or another example of what not to have
First Lieutenant
Pilot | SS Everwhere
101st Marine Detachment
Human
Thank you for your time and understanding in this.

To further expand on something else we do NOT use
the circles in the titler for rank as demonstrated below
••• Commander
We do not need the rank in twice as a symbol and a name ... we only use the name part in our titlers.
Other groups use the symbol and we want to distinguish ourselves from them so only the Name please

Perhaps we should give the Wikipedia page a review as well? As this doesn't state the "Duty Station" yet.

Yes, if your character name is different than your sl name, it is allowed to have your character name on the top of the titler. The way you have it is fine.Mackenzie Godric wrote:Question,
I have away put my Character name as it differs from my SL name, so mine says
Liara Godric
Lt. Commander | Security
Chief of Security | USS Maxwell
Trill
is this not allowed? it seems to clear up confusion for those of us who are using different names In RP than our SL name.

I am glad that this has been posted because some people collect positions then wear them as titlers, looking like a mini service jacket above their heads.

(looks over my head at the additions to my titler)
Can I shorten 'Vice Chief Medical Officer' to 'Vice CMO"? I'd have a lot less trouble with my titler poking people in the eye.

really? This has been something marine pilots have done since I was a cadet... we earned the call signs when we earn our wings.. I will comply but I protest on the grounds that its not much different then having your RP name because your call sign is what pilots go by.James Killian wrote:And Callsigns/Nicknames are not to be in titler's either.

I have a question, when did some of this change? When I was a cadet I was told by my CCO that the titler was for people to know stuff their character should be able to see but can't due to the size of prims and resolution issues. It was Rank (Cause you can see the pips), Branch (For the uniform color) and Race if you wanted.

Actually Jamie I believe it is up to the Marine Commandant and MARCOM as to if this is or isn't allowed or not. Not a captain of ship of the line.

He is not just a Captain of the ship of the line, he is Colony Commander and Vice Chief of UFS Operations and follws my direction in that office.Penney Lancaster wrote:Jamie Czavicevic wrote:really? The titler is Roleplay information, and as I lead roleplay ... well ... yeah
